He started out by working in his mother’s ice cream business from a horse-drawn wagon and headed up the first production facility built in 1932. By 1960, Mr. Mattus decided to form a new company and called the new brand Häagen-Dazs™. To produce fine ice cream, he insisted on using only fine and pure ingredients. Häagen-Dazs™ quickly developed a loyal following and has continued to grow to be a successful brand known throughout the world.
